John McCain will soon officially become the Republican Presidential Candidate. The presidential race does not show signs
of taking summer break and heating up in September and October - it's on! Right now. Republicans must not be complacent.
We need to get behind John McCain and push for victory.
United States District 1 Congressman Bill Sali needs our help today. We must raise funds, present issues, and support
appearances to protect this seat.
United States Senate candidate Jim Risch is a proven performer for the people of Idaho. This Senate seat has been targeted
by the DNC. We must rally around the best man for the job - Jim Risch.
Challenges abound for our legislators in northern Idaho and we must be organized beyond monthly meetings and voting in
November. The time to be involved is right now.
The Idaho State Republican Convention was held in Sandpoint, Idaho 12-14 June 2008. The Chairman's Reception was packed
on Thursday night. Governor C.L. Butch Otter and Lovely First Lady Lori Otter introduced U.S. Senate Candidate Jim Risch
and former First Lady Vicki Risch to an enthusiastic crowd.
Friday the 13th had newspaper, bloggers, and tv media all set on hype. The convention began with many factions working
together to reach consensus on many issues and the day ended with the opportunity to experience the hospitality of Jeanne
and Gary Norton at Silverwood Theme Park.
A glorious weather day on Flag Day, June 14th that began with the National Federation of Republican Women honoring the
superstars of the Gem State with Governor and First Lady Butch and Lori Otter leading the compliments and applause. The
day ended with a newly crafted platform, new relationships, and a new State Party Chairman. Norm Semanko has taken the reins
from two time party chairman Dr. J. Kirk Sullivan.
"Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith, let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand
it." Lincoln's Cooper Institute Address, February 27, 1860.
Capture the spirit and values of our 16th President and harness those core beliefs with today's technology and spread
the GOP message far and wide between now and November. There is work to be done. Will you help?
A new Idaho Pachyderm Club is coming to Sandpoint! We have enough people signed up to start and managed to get organized
during the busy month of May. Our club charter meeting date will be in July. Call Dan Young at (208) 290-2249 to join up!
The National Federation of the Grand Order of Pachyderm Clubs, Inc. is an officially recognized allied organization of the
Republican Party. Patterned after civic clubs, Pachyderm Clubs offer programs centered around politics and government. Pachyderm
Clubs can be the continuity for the Republican Party from election to election in that unlike the party structure, Pachyderm
Clubs remain active all year.
Presidential candidate Ron Paul suspended his campaign the night before the 2008 Convention convened but his ideals were clearly
represented by committed Ron Paul Republicans. The question before the Convention is how many will stick around when Ron
Paul is not a candidate. That remains to be answered but many RP supporters have been Republicans for years and many new
to the political process intend to participate now and in the future. Welcome aboard. There is a lot of work to do. You
are welcome at Pachyderm Club!
Republicans and a Return to Normalcy
In the early 1920s, weary from fighting a world war and disillusioned by the failure of Wilsons plans to create a new
world order, Americans sought stability. Popular support for Republicans grew, since Republicans promised a "return to
normalcy." Republicans ceased to promise progressive reforms and instead aimed to settle into traditional patterns of
government. In 1920, after eight years under a progressive Democrat, Americans elected a conservative Republican as president,
the first of the decades three Republican presidents. Big business and advocates of isolationism reaped the benefits of Republican
rule.
The National Federation of Republican Women in Idaho lead skillfully and enthusiastically by Melinda Smyser conducted a sold
out breakfast at the 2008 Idaho State Convention in Sandpoint, Idaho where they honored some of the finest Republican Leaders
in the Gem State.
Governor C.L. Butch Otter and First Lady Lori Otter were on had to address the crowd, present awards, and lead the applause
for this vital component of the GOP effort in Idaho.
